Due to some unforseen events, blog updates will be postponed until further notice. Sorry everyone! Have a great day :]

$25 plus shipping from NatureandArt at Etsy.
I don't even need to explain this one. It's just fantastic, that's all there is to say.

These are a few of my favorite... RUGS!
It's a well kept secret that I am in love with rugs. Really, I wish I had some in my house but alas, I can never get myself to spend $300+ on something I'm going to walk all over.
But one day, I do hope to have a nice rug for my office. Something large and round. And yellow. VERY yellow. Granted, I do have a couple of cheap gray $10 rugs from Walmart in our bedroom, but only to protect the wood floors from the bed. As of yet, there's nothing protecting the wood floors in my office.. Ah, but one day...
Anyway. Here are a few of my favorites.
I absolutely LOVE the print on this rug. It's nice and graphic, but the circles make it somewhat unexpected and almost... Morrocan, at least to me anyway. Then again, it is called the Arabesque (indoor-outdoor rug), so I'm obviously way off in my interpretation. In any case, $139.99 from World Market. Quite a deal, if you ask me.
I love all things striped. Seriously, I do. If I had my way, the entire house would be decorated in stripes (though in all honesty, that'd probably look quite tacky.) Price ranges from $101 to $594, depending on what size you get through RugsUSA. Oh, and if you're not a fan of yellow--they've also got this particular model in black, seafoam, blue, emerald, sand, light blue, light coral, navy and teal. So really, who doesn't love this rug? Cause I know I do. Now, where to put it... Hmm.
Very rarely do I not like organized rugs. And by organized, I mean, ya know, repeated patterns and the like. But, I do love this one. It's all BAM-in-your-face-look-at me-I'm-the-most-beautiful-rug-you've-ever-seen rug! Price starts around $234 and goes up according to what size you want, through AllModern (one of my favorite resources!)
Again, not necessarily a big fan of chaotic patterns BUT, I do love the gorgeous mustard-y color of this particular rug from Anthropologie. In fact, I like it so much I'm considering the round version of it for my office. Price ranges from $88 for a 2x3 up to $1098 for a 9x12.
I love rugs that are all BAM in your face (as you may have already heard.) So, even though this one isn't anything "special" in terms of pattern or design, I am absolutely in love with the warm marigold-esque color of it. It reminds me of fall here in Michigan. $298 from Anthropologie.
Last but not least, a slightly less overwhelming but still just as gorgeous rug from West Elm. I'm pretty much in love with the pattern, though I wouldn't mind if the color was just a bit more mustard and a little less dirty cream. Price starts at $49 for a 2x3 and goes up to $699 for a 9x12; which is MUCH more reasonable than some of the 4k rugs I've been eyeballing but will never get. *sob*

Dreaming on a Budget
Here's the latest installment of Dreaming on a Budget.
Sometimes all you need is a pop of color to pull a room together. While I’m not a fan of a single pop (in case you haven’t seen my own living room, check it out here at Turquish Dreams), I can see the appeal.
While trolling Etsy the other day, I came across a lot of great stuff; but then again, when don’t I? Most importantly, I found a bunch of great things that are priced affordably AND they're made right here in the good ol' USA. (Seriously. If you're not supporting American-made products & American companies, then wtf? Start supporting your d@#& country!) So, here are a few items to add a pop of yellow to your home decor.
From Bacon Square Farm (right out of Mankato, Minnesota) on Etsy.com; this bench is a great pop of yellow for an entryway or hallway. Plus, $75 (plus shipping), it won't break your bank.
Another super cute bench... This time from Scruff Monkey Shop (out of Kansas City, Missouri). $59.00 (plus shipping) is currently on sale at the time of this blog post (but listed originally as $75.00).
I LOVE this dresser. It's a shame it's only being sold locally and pick-up only, as I would shell out $150 for this baby EASILY. (Though I may consider taking a drive down to Indianapolis to pick it up... It's only what, 6 hours?) From Lila's Pockets on Etsy.
If you're like me you've got a pet (or 4, yes, I have 4). I actually happen to own one of these elevated pet feeders for my dog, Sophie. Of course, hers is in pink but if I could choose all over again, I'd do yellow the second time around. In any case, I can guarantee you from personal experience that Merlin's Bark Products (out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) is a GREAT shop to buy from. I've bought from them. This feeder is heavy duty, the real deal. AND it's easy to clean when the pets get a little messy; but I digress... This particular model is $25.00; but they'll make you custom sizes depending on your pet's height and needs.
Again with the pets? Of course. I hate boring pet beds (I really, really do.) They're one of those necessities you have to have but often times, don't look that great compared to the rest of your house. This awesome pet bed is so mid-century, it's completely fantastical. Yes. Fantastical. If I could get my dog to sleep on it, I would (but she's too big, and she wouldn't). Maybe one of the cats... Hmm. Anyway. $95 (plus shipping) from ModPet out of New York.
Last but not least; this yellow clock from Chromalab (Boston, Massachusetts), $69.00 (plus shipping). Want to add some yellow without going over board? Throw a clock up on the wall. BAM. Done.

Lighting Options: Yellow Lamps
So after some light browsing, I found myself inspired by a few yellow lamps. My husband tells me I have this problem... I can't ever decide on one style, so really I'm a bit eclectic. But, that aside, I did manage to scrounge up a few really awesome yellow lighting options. Enjoy! :)
From CBK through Amazon.com: Cornflower Yellow Balustrade Table Lamp - $110.00
From CB2: Crane grellow desk lamp - $99.95
If you know me well, you know I love recycled things... So when I found these lamps on Etsy, I was quite pleased. Seriously, recycled Tupperware lamps?! Awesomesauce. And I admit, I have these EXACT Tupperware containers (in yellow, of course) in my kitchen! PLUS, they're locally [re]made here in Michigan, how cool is that? :]
From BootsNGus (through Etsy.com,) UpCycled ReCycled Spring Flowers Tupperware TupperLIGHT Retro Table Lamp - $75.00
From RedYellowandBlueInk (via Etsy.com,): the Traffic Light, Light - $53.00
I seriously wish I owned my house--these would be perfect over a kitchen island! :]

Yellow Bedrooms
My husband and I haven't done our bedroom yet, to say the least. It's painted a nice light slate-gray color, but we have no dresser, no side tables, no lamps, no nothing. Just our bed, sitting on the floor. (Must be part of being newlyweds.) Okay, we do have some cheap side tables that are bright blue, some small cheap lamps--but that's literally it. Obviously, those pieces aren't permanent.
In any case, my dream for the bedroom is shades of gray with a pop or two of bright, mustard-y yellow.
That being said, I'd like to share with you some of the photos I have saved for inspiration for decorating said bedroom (once we finally have the money, hah!)
Enjoy!
I love this headboard, the curves and the details are gorgeous.
I'm a fan of the wallpaper here, combined with the marimekko bedding and the knit bedding. Love different textures!
Simple, but sweet! :]
I wasn't able to post the single picture; but check out this blog post from Paisley Wallpaper. The yellow flooring with the white pattern over top: to. die. for. Love it! <3

Dreaming on a Budget
Hello all,
Recent musings have led me to believe that other people need cheap, budget-friendly pieces for their homes (duh, I know); but that they also like to look at "dream items" (i.e., things you want but can't afford, at least not yet, anyway!) So, every Thursday I'm going to do a post called "Dreaming on a Budget," to hopefully help you find dream pieces in your price range (and maybe ogle over some not-so-budget-friendly pieces as well. :) So here it is. The first official "dreaming on a budget" post! Enjoy.
I love tea light candles in general. These ones are simple and sweet in a nice mustard-y yellow. Plus, the great thing about tea light candle holders is, they're cheap! So, you can switch them out as you like without completely blowing your budget. $0.95/each @ Crate&Barrel.
Don't be surprised if you see things from Etsy regularly on this blog, because in all honesty--Etsy is a great resource for those of you looking for unique (and not so unique) pieces. I'm a huge "New Yorker at Heart," (not that I don't love my home here on Lake Michigan!) so I love this pillow. It's been on my Etsy wish list for a while. :] $27.00 @ Etsy; by Nesta.
I was unable to post a picture of this Johnathan Adler vase; but you should still check it out anyway. The pop of yellow is fantastic and the geometric pattern is to. die. for. (Especially if you're into that whole mid-century modern look, like me.) $48.00 @ Johnathan Adler.
I love drum shades! I especially love the clean lines of this one, the soft yellow and the nice curve of the shade. It adds visual interest without being too in. your. face. $199.91 @ Lamps Plus.
Okay... Now time for the 'dream items.' Unless of course, you have this kind of money to spend, then by all means! :]
This globe is from an antique store (which also sells online, mind you). The yellow in the landscaping is a great way to tie a room together if you know what you're doing. I won't lie, I wouldn't mind it in my own living room; which happens to be painted the bright turquoise blue of the water there on the globe. $325.00 @ REHAB Vintage Interiors.
And last but not least: two Asian tea bins in a nice shade of yellow. I'd use these as end tables in my bedroom, they'd be perfect! I've been looking for something to "pop" in my gray-themed bedroom. $995 for the pair @ VandM (Vintage and Modern).
Happy decorating! :]
